Meet the mischievous mini robot
Do you want a fun robot to control that fits in your pocket? Would you like to get your children interested in computer science? Do you enjoy new technologies and want to try programming? Start with Ozobot Bit+, it can easily handle everything at once and even more. It is a smart toy and a well-thought-out teaching aid at the same time, suitable for hobby and school education across subjects and grades. The little bot is packed with features, it will win you over with its cuteness and surprising skills. It can follow guide lines and execute coded commands drawn on paper, or it will do everything according to a simply created script that you program yourself in the intuitive OzoBlockly editor. Does it sound complicated? You don't need to be afraid of it at all. It is easy to control and can be mastered with ease by 8-year-old children and adults who prefer to avoid small electronics. And even preschoolers dare to take on the easiest tasks! From a young age, you can develop their creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, coding, and problem-solving skills.
Expand your basic school set with other small robots
The Ozobot Bit+ school set is a great tool for teaching programming skills in schools and hobby groups focusing on computer science, programming, computer technology and other educational trends. The sets have long had a permanent place in schools and educational centers around the world, where they have enjoyed great interest not only from students but also from teachers for many years. This "lightweight set" serves as a kind of supplement to the basic school set. It contains a total of 12 Ozobot Bit+ robots and the same number of charging cables. It is useful, for example, when you are considering upgrading your previous Ozobot Bit sets to the latest Bit+ version in your classroom. It is also an ideal choice in cases where you already own an Ozobot Bit+ school set, but need additional robots to increase teaching efficiency or when increasing the number of students in the class.
STEM teaching aid for modern schools
Ozobot Bit+ will creatively introduce the world of robotics, computer science and programming to pupils and students of primary, secondary and higher education. In the Czech Republic, Ozobot is a very popular STEM tool for modern teaching of polytechnic disciplines. STEM is a concept focused on four disciplines – natural sciences (Science), technology (Technology), engineering (Engineering) and mathematics (Mathematics). However, do not look for a classic method of education behind it. On the contrary, it aims to solve real-world challenges and emphasizes critical and creative thinking. The playful Ozobot is ideal for this type of teaching. Imagine, for example, how a small robot counts the intersections it has traveled or randomly selects numbers and mathematical operations for pupils to perform with them. Or how it travels through a drawn diagram of the human respiratory system during biology class and helps children understand this basic physiological process.
Creativity is not left out either – when drawing the guide line and Ozocodes, you can let your imagination run wild, or equip Ozobot with your own backdrops and costumes. That is why we would not be afraid to describe Ozobot as a tool that belongs more to the STEAM concept of education. In addition to the subjects mentioned above, it also emphasizes the arts, not only visual, musical or dramatic. This may also include the ability to control language, formulate ideas and present them convincingly. Lessons with Ozobot can also include a discussion, during which students explain their steps, describe the problems they had to solve, and the methods that led to the completion of the task. The number of topics that you can cover from individual fields with the robot is extremely wide. And this is well noticed by the professional community, which has awarded Ozobot with several prestigious awards in the field of education and technology.
Two ways of programming
As mentioned, there are two ways for children and adults to code Ozobot Bit+. To get started, you only need markers and paper to program. Your task will be to draw black guiding lines for the robot to follow. On them, you will place color codes consisting of a sequence of red, green, and blue squares. These will determine the robot's direction, speed, start a counter or timer, or allow it to perform cool moves. There are plenty of Ozocodes that you can use to spice up your track. And don't worry - you don't have to learn them by heart. You and your children can always have an overview of them at hand. Do you take care of young children, for whom even drawing color-coded tracks might be difficult? Do you want to save on the amount of paper you use? You can expand the basic starter kit with a set of magnets that will perfectly represent them.
Another option is visual programming in the application or online block editor OzoBlockly. In this intuitive editor, especially older students can arrange individual blocks and create their unique combinations. The complexity of individual actions is clearly divided into several levels so that every little programmer can choose their own. You can then upload your original programs directly to the bot and let it translate them into action. The entire editor environment can now be switched to Python and teach students how to use this programming language. Whichever method you choose, you will practice your skills in creating sequences, commands, working with logic and strengthening your ability to solve problems in the form of a fun game.
Tutorial portal
Not sure if you can come up with interesting and sophisticated tasks for children to complete with the Bit+ robot after exhausting the included activities? Don't worry! There is an online library of lessons for educational institutions (in English). The lessons are marked according to difficulty and focus , and most importantly, more are added regularly! On the manufacturer's website, you can download and print ready-made mazes, race tracks, and an overview of color codes and commands . You can play selected games here without having to install applications or watch instructional videos. Another source of inspiration will be the fantastic community of educators who teach a wide range of subjects and share their own ideas and plans. The Ozobotí community is very active and constantly developing. Therefore, we can only recommend watching the webinars for teachers.
